Types of Escalators

Escalators are a common sight in public buildings and transportation hubs. They come in various types, each designed to meet specific needs and environments.

1. Standard Escalators:

  • The most common type, suitable for general use in shopping malls, airports, and other public spaces.
  • Typically have a horizontal step width of 600 mm and a vertical step height of 150 mm.

2. Wide Escalators:

  • Designed for higher passenger capacity, often used in busy transportation hubs like subway stations.
  • Have a wider step width, allowing more people to ride simultaneously.

3. Inclined Escalators:

  • Used in applications where a steep incline is required, such as in parking garages or on hillsides.
  • Have a more pronounced angle between the horizontal and vertical components.

4. Outdoor Escalators:

  • Specially designed for outdoor use, with weather-resistant materials and protective coverings.
  • Often used in theme parks or tourist attractions.

5. Handicap Escalators:

  • Equipped with features to accommodate people with disabilities, such as wider steps and handrails on both sides.

Passenger Elevators

Passenger elevators are essential for multi-story buildings, providing convenient transportation between floors. They come in various types to suit different needs and building configurations.

1. Geared Traction Elevators:

  • The most common type, using a geared motor to raise and lower the elevator car.
  • Suitable for most commercial and residential buildings.

2. Gearless Traction Elevators:

  • Use a gearless motor, offering smoother operation and higher energy efficiency.
  • Often used in taller buildings and high-rise residential complexes.

3. Hydraulic Elevators:

  • Use hydraulic pressure to raise and lower the elevator car.
  • Typically used in low-rise buildings or applications where space is limited.

4. Machine Roomless Elevators:

  • Have the machine room located in the elevator shaft, saving space in the building.
  • Often used in modern high-rise construction.

5. Panorama Elevators:

  • Designed with glass walls or a transparent roof to offer panoramic views.
  • Commonly used in tourist attractions or luxury hotels.
